Race Meeting Format

At SMCC, we aim to provide an enjoyable, competitive, and fair experience for all drivers — whether you're a newcomer or seasoned racer. Here’s how a typical club night runs and what you need to know.

🏁 Event Timetable

18:35 - 18:50	Buggy & Short Course Truck Practice
18:50 - 19:05	Touring Car & Tamiya Tourer Practice
19:05	Drivers Briefing
19:15	First Heat on the Line
~22:30	Aim to Finish

🏎️ Qualifying Heats

• Three 4-minute heats per class (max 10 drivers per heat)
• Heats split evenly if entries are high
• Qualifying determines final grid positions
• You're competing for best time, not racing others
• Let faster cars pass cleanly
• Do not rev a stuck car – wait for a marshal
• Be alert and avoid marshals on track

🏆 Finals

• 5-minute race finals
• Up to 10 drivers per final (A, B, etc. as needed)
• First across the line wins!

🎯 Championships

• A Final: 1st = 100 pts, 2nd = 99, etc.
• +1 pt for Fastest Time of Day (FTQ)
• +1 pt for A Final win
• Standings shown at rc-results.com
• Best X results from Y rounds count
• Ties broken by comparing best rounds

👷‍♂️ Marshalling

• After your race, go directly to your marshalling position
• If racing in the next heat, you’re excused
• If you can't marshal, arrange a substitute
• Stay alert — no phones or distractions
• Consistently missed duties = point deductions

🔍 Scrutineering

• All championship cars must meet class rules (check Facebook Files)
• Illegal cars may lose results or be disqualified
• You have one chance to correct issues before next heat

📏 Track & Pit Etiquette

• No car running in pit area
• Charge/discharge at the charging table only, with Lipo bags
• No climbing or running in sports hall
• No smoking anywhere on school grounds
• SMCC is a friendly, welcoming club for all skill levels
• Please stay to help pack away the track
