Accessibility
Last updated: 16 May 2026
Sevenoaks Model Car Club is a community club and we want our website to work for everyone — including drivers and supporters who use assistive technology or have visual, motor, or cognitive impairments.
What we aim for
We build the site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA where reasonably possible. Specifically:
- Keyboard navigation — all key actions (browsing the site, booking, signing in) can be completed using a keyboard alone.
- Screen reader compatibility — we use semantic HTML, label form fields properly, and provide text alternatives for images.
- Colour contrast — body text and important controls meet the AA contrast ratio against the background.
- Resizable text — content reflows cleanly up to 200% browser zoom without loss of functionality.
- Responsive layout — the site works on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops, in both landscape and portrait.
Known limitations
We're a volunteer-run club building this in our spare time, so we can't guarantee perfect compliance. Areas where we know we're weaker:
- Race-results charts — our lap-by-lap analytics charts are visual SVGs. We provide the same data in tables on the same page, but the charts themselves are best with sight.
- External services — payment is handled by Stripe and email by Resend. Their interfaces are outside our direct control, though both are large providers with their own accessibility programmes.
If something isn't working
If you hit a barrier on the site — anything that prevents you from doing what you came to do — please tell us. We'll do our best to fix it or provide an alternative way to complete the task (for example, booking by email).
Email sevenoaksmodelcarclub@gmail.com with the page URL and a short description of what went wrong, or use the contact form. We aim to respond within a couple of days.
At the venue
Sackville School (our race venue) is a working school with its own accessibility provision. If you have specific access needs for a race night — step-free routes, accessible parking, hearing support, anything else — please contact us a few days ahead so we can confirm what's available and help with arrangements.
