What a fantastic evening of racing we had at Sevenoaks Model Car Club's 2026 Summer Championship Round 8! The polished hall floor was alive with the sound and speed of 1:10 scale electric touring cars, buggies, and trucks.
Short Course Truck
The Short Course Truck class saw some thrilling action. James Campbell took a convincing win in one of the earlier rounds, with Tim Halstead and Alan Culham completing the podium. Later in the evening, Tim Halstead secured a victory in a later round, with Chris Luckett and Alan Culham rounding out the top three. The A Final saw Tim Halstead take the chequered flag, followed closely by Chris Luckett, and James Campbell in third.
Buggy
The Buggy class was highly competitive throughout the night. Nick Stokes was on fine form, taking victory in one of the early races and also in the Buggy A Final. Ian Foxwell also secured a win in a strong performance. James Campbell showed his pace with multiple podium finishes, including second in the Buggy A Final. Holly Weaver also impressed with podium finishes.
Touring Car
The Touring Car races were closely fought. Ian Cowe demonstrated exceptional skill, clinching victories in multiple rounds and setting the fastest laps in each. Tim Webb consistently battled at the sharp end, securing podiums in several races, including a strong second place in the Touring Car A Final. James Weaver took a brilliant win in the Touring Car A Final, with Ian Cowe and Tim Webb completing the podium.
Tamiya Tourers
The Tamiya Tourers class provided plenty of excitement. Alan Ratcliffe was a dominant force, taking multiple victories and fastest laps. Martin Timms also showed great pace, securing wins in his Tamiya Tourer races. Mark Shepherd was another standout performer, taking several victories and fastest laps. Glen Liddle and Oscar Pay also secured podium finishes in this popular class.
Several drivers achieved impressive consistency across the meeting. Tim Webb made it onto 8 podiums, James Campbell appeared on 7 podiums, and Ian Cowe, Alan Ratcliffe, and Sophie Cowe each achieved 4 podiums. The fastest lap of the night belonged to James Weaver in the Touring Car A Final with an incredible 12.76 seconds!
