What a cracker of a Buggy race for Round 1 of the 2026 Summer Championship here at Sevenoaks Model Car Club! The lead swapped hands a couple of times in a thrilling 17-lap contest. Ian Foxwell got off to a flyer, taking the lead on lap two from Tom Jones and holding it for the majority of the race. He looked to have it in the bag, consistently putting in strong laps, but Tom Jones, who posted the fastest lap of the race at a blistering 13.24 seconds, wasn't giving up.
The pressure certainly told in the closing stages. On the very last lap, lap 17, Tom Jones managed to snatch the lead back from Ian Foxwell, crossing the line just 2.3 seconds ahead to take the win. It was a fantastic comeback drive from Tom. Ben Clark ran a consistent race to secure third position, a solid start to his championship campaign. Unfortunately, Holly Weaver's race ended prematurely, not completing the final two laps.
A brilliant effort from all our drivers tonight, showcasing some really competitive racing on the polished hall floor. We'll be back for Round 2 of the championship soon, so get those buggies prepped!
