Summer Championship Round 2 - Race 1 Recap: Short Course Trucks Deliver Drama
What a sensational opener to the Summer Championship here at Sevenoaks Model Car Club! The Short Course Trucks put on an absolute masterclass of driving. It was James Campbell who ultimately took the win, crossing the line after 17 laps with a total time of 240.58 seconds. He may have finished first, but his path to victory was anything but straightforward, with several lead changes throughout the race. His fastest lap of 12.860 seconds was also the quickest of the entire field.
Alan Culham, who started strongly, leading for the opening two laps, was locked in a titanic struggle with Campbell. They traded the lead no fewer than five times between laps 3 and 9! Despite his best efforts and a strong pace, Culham had to settle for second place, just 3.25 seconds behind Campbell at the chequered flag. His consistency was impressive, running lap after lap within a tight margin.
Further back, Keith Griggs secured a solid third place, completing 14 laps. He held position for the majority of his race, showcasing good pace until lap 14. Andrew Boakes put in a determined effort, finishing fourth after 13 laps. Adam Gammage unfortunately did not complete any laps. A fantastic race to kick off the meeting!
