Race 3 - Touring Car Recap
What a race we’ve just witnessed for the Touring Car class here at Sevenoaks Model Car Club! Ian Cowe has taken the victory, but it was far from a lights-to-flag affair. James Weaver initially took the lead on lap 1, only for Steve Jenner to snatch it on lap 2. That lead was short-lived, as Weaver fought back to reclaim P1 on lap 3. The battle was intense in those early laps, with the lead swapping hands multiple times.
The mid-race saw James Weaver holding a strong advantage, but Ian Cowe was on a charge. After taking the lead for the first time on lap 9, Cowe was eventually re-passed by Weaver on lap 12. However, Cowe made a decisive move on lap 14 to go back into the lead and this time he held on, crossing the line a full 6.19 seconds ahead of Weaver. Steve Jenner rounded out the podium, finishing just under 3.5 seconds behind Weaver.
Ian Webb completed 18 laps to finish fourth, ahead of Martin Timms who retired after 9 laps. Jimmy Zepp was unfortunately unable to record a lap time. Congratulations to Ian Cowe on his hard-fought win!
