A-Final Thriller Sees Playfoot Take the Win
What a race we've just witnessed in the Touring Car A-Final! Craig Playfoot has snatched victory, crossing the line after 21 laps with a time of 302.73 seconds. He held off a strong challenge from Damian Brown, who finished just 2.14 seconds behind after a consistent drive. The lead swapped hands on lap 12, with Playfoot making his move and then holding a commanding advantage for the remainder of the race, setting his fastest lap of 12.75 seconds on lap 18.
Ian Webb put in a solid performance to secure third place, completing 20 laps. He showed great pace throughout, climbing two positions from where he started. Martin Timms finished fourth on 19 laps, with Steve Jenner taking fifth. Jenner had an incredible start, leading the first 11 laps and setting the fastest lap of the entire race with a blistering 12.42 seconds, but couldn't maintain that pace, eventually finishing after 17 laps. James Weaver completed the field, completing 7 laps.
The battle for the lead was intense in the early stages, but Playfoot's charge from lap 12 onwards proved unstoppable. Brown fought hard to stay with him, consistently closing the gap in the final laps, but Playfoot had just enough in hand to claim the win. A fantastic display from all our finalists tonight!
